With the continuous development of
post-press binding technology, saddle-stitching as a process of brochures printing post-binding, its binding speed and binding quality have also changed.
Saddle stitching process simple, short turnaround
time and low cost, can be flat open, easy to read, it is widely used in brochures printing, binding
information materials, magazines, pictures, posters, etc., which is collating—binding—cutting--packing.
1. Collation
Books that are bound by saddle stitching
should not be too thick, otherwise the wire cannot penetrate and the number of
pages can only be up to 100 pages. Therefore, books with saddle-stitch binding
generally need to add pages with no more than 8 groups. When adding pages to
the post storage bucket, try to tidy up the stack of pages so that air can
enter between the pages to avoid sticking when the next page is caused by long
accumulation time or static electricity, which will affect the boot speed. In
addition, for pages with uneven front-end code table, the pages should be
sorted out when the pages are added, so as not to cause downtime during the
production process and affect the production speed and output. Sometimes, due
to dry weather and other reasons, static electricity will be generated between
the pages of the book. In this case, you need to spray some water around the
pages or use a humidifier to perform humidification to eliminate static
interference.
2. Binding
According to the thickness and material of
the paper, the diameter of the wire is generally 0.2-0.7mm during the
book-booking process. The position of the wire is two quarters from the top and
bottom of the book block, and the tolerance is within ±3.0mm. No bad nails,
missing nails and heavy nails are required when ordering the book; the book is
neat and clean; the feet are flat and firm; the distance is even and on the
crease line; the skew error of the signature is ≤2.0mm. During the
book-booking process, it is necessary to frequently check whether the booklet
meets the standard requirements, and stop processing in time when problems are
found.
3. Cutting
When cutting, the blade should be replaced
in time according to the size and thickness of the book to ensure that the book
is cut out without bleeding, knife flowers, continuous pages, and no serious
breaks. The skew error of the finished product is ≤1.5mm.
4. Packing
Before packaging, the quality of the
finished product should be checked. The book should be clean and tidy, without
obvious folds, dead folds, broken pages, dirty marks, etc.; the page order is
correct, and the error inward or outward should be ≤0.5mm. On the
collection code table, the books should be neatly organized, and then packed
into books using a stacker. It is required that the counting is accurate before
packaging and labeling.
